Meet Robyn A. Defelice, PhD

RAD is a learning strategist, author, and advisor who helps people make sense of complex learning systems.

What RAD Learning Does

RADLearning helps Learning & Development teams do work that actually works.

I’m Robyn A. Defelice, PhD—learning systems strategist, microlearning author, and long-time champion of the people doing the real work behind the scenes in L&D.

After 20+ years across corporate, government, higher education, nonprofit, and startup environments, I’ve learned this: most learning challenges aren’t really about motivation or content. They’re about systems that have grown heavy, fragmented, or unclear.

That’s where I come in.

I help teams simplify how their learning ecosystem works, sharpen their decision-making, and move from “we know something’s off” to “this finally makes sense.” No futuristic jargon. No performative trends. Just thoughtful design, clear priorities, and systems that support real work.

(Yes, learning can be rigorous and human. Imagine that.)

Meet RAD

A comic-style black and white illustration showing a woman on the left side with a speech bubble saying "RAD!", and a group of five children on the right, labeled as brothers 1 through 4, with four children posing for a photo.

I’m a strategist, author, presenter, and lifelong learning nerd with a soft spot for clarity and a low tolerance for fluff.

I’m the co-author of Microlearning: Short and Sweet and the author of Maximizing the Power of Microlearning. I teach, speak, advise, and partner with organizations who want learning to actually matter—not just exist.

A big part of my work is helping teams build their own capability and confidence. I’m not here to create dependency. I’m here to help you and your team develop better judgment, stronger systems, and the ability to make good decisions long after I’m gone. (Teach them to fish, and all that.)

Outside of client work, I mentor L&D professionals, support nonprofit initiatives, and stay deeply invested in the future of the learning profession.

I also have a deep love for my loud Italian family. I grew up with four brothers, which meant I was constantly on defense and learned early how to think strategically, communicate clearly, and hold my ground. They are a huge part of who I am and continue to shape how I show up in the world.

From theory to action.
